This past weekend has been such a whirlwind of unexpected events. The biggest one was the fact that Lukas surprised me early!! He kept telling me that he was arriving on Saturday and that he would be in Berlin on Friday for a meeting. I had a photo shoot scheduled Friday morning and right as I woke up I checked in with him as usual. He sent a smiling photo of himself and on my phone it offers the geotag with received photographs and his geotag said nothing of Berlin but that he was actually in Düsseldorf at the airport!!! You can’t even imagine my excitement to know he was on his way! I literally couldn’t stop smiling and it brightened my entire day. Do you know that feeling when you’re so happy it really feels impossible for anything to rain on your parade? That’s what I was feeling. I tried to get him to admit the fact that he wasn’t in Berlin but he wouldn’t say anything until I told him I knew, right as he was about to take off. I know it sounds silly because it’s only a one-day difference but considering we haven’t seen each other in many months, it was the best surprise to know we would have one more day together.

On Saturday, we decided to take a quick road trip to Cape Ann and have some alone time before a party that evening. The drive was so beautiful to go through all of these small coastal communities! We went through Salem, Beverly, Manchester-by-the-Sea and a few others before deciding to park in Gloucester. My favorite thing is to see all of the unique galleries and antique stores. We stopped in a really cute one on Main Street and spent a lot of time inside browsing old magazines, books, and other home items. If we were moving to a new place in Boston we would definitely browse for fun collectibles to put in our home here! Later in the afternoon we were in search for ice cream and went to Holy Cow Ice Cream Cafe and it was SO. GOOD. Made to order waffle cones and a large list of flavors? Yes, please!! I haven’t gone to an ice cream shop in so long I forgot how crazy big the portions were. The one I was holding above? That was a SMALL. Needless to say, I felt really bad about having to throw half of it out.

I don’t have much to say about it besides the fact I’m so happy to be back with my love. We’re enjoying the time together right before my semester begins! We head to Washington D.C. next week and Martha’s Vinyard immediately after so get ready for new pictures and new adventures! I’m really looking forward to taking Lukas to the Vineyard and giving him the whole tour of everywhere I used to go as a kid. On the blog, I’m working really hard to push out two more interviews from Mystic still but they’re very exciting if I can get a moment of undistracted time to write them all! Stay tuuuuuuned.

Best,

Rebecca
