With all the stress on me from work, school, my future…I just felt my mind really needing to check out for a day or two. Aaaand to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life we went towards the mountains for a quick, relaxing getaway…
Mt. Sunapee in New Hampshire was calling our name! We stayed at the Mountain Edge Resort and Spa just in time for a snowfall. The New England weather will always blow my mind and how it can be 60 degrees one day and then 6 inches of the snow the next.
Because we were only there for a couple nights we just lounged around the space the entire time. It’s very much a semi-luxury lodge. It had the stone walls, high ceilings, exposed beams, and deer head decor of your mountain cabin which contrasted nicely against the luxury amenities like the indoor pools, massage rooms, tavern, and large balconies that you would get at your average resort.
During our short stay, we dedicated a day to the spa which was lovely as we were the only ones there! This was the day before Thanksgiving…literally a day before the skiing season begins. I had a hot stone massage which was ah-mazing. The temperature of the stones was perfect and I also heard great things about the facials which ended up with me leaving with some products. Not to mention the prices! My massage was only about $110 for 50 minutes! That’s amazing compared to the costly day spas in Boston.
I would recommend it if you’re looking for a quick getaway like ourselves or if you’re a big skier! I was chatting with someone at the front desk while waiting for our car to be cleaned off and he said it gets really busy with families during winter vacations and it’s constantly bustling until around mid-March.
